Jim has been with PwC for 15 years, 6 of which were in the firms London office and the balance in PwC Dublin.
Jim is a Tax Director and has been in this position for the last 4 years. Jim has a BA and Higher Diploma in Education from UCD and is an associate of the Institute of Taxation in Ireland.
Jim is the Director in charge of a number of client teams who provide tax compliance and consultancy advice to leading Irish and multinational groups.

Jim is responsible for looking after client relationship management as well as the quality and timelines of the deliverable ultimately provided to the client. Clients in Jim's recent portfolio would have included Irish entities such as IWP International Plc, Independent Newspapers Plc,Unidare Plc, UCD and Gresham Hotels, and multinationals with operations in Ireland, such as Sony, Quintiles International, Bearingpoint, and PolyGram.
Examples of the type of projects Jim has been involved in the last few years include the restructuring of Irish groups, structuring and advising on document wording for the acquisition and sale of various businesses, structuring the tax efficient debt refinancing of an Irish multinational group and structuring overseas investments in Irish PPP’s.
Jim is head of the tax section of the firm's Entertainment and Media unit and specialises in film tax incentives. In order to ensure successful project management in the latter area he needs to work closely with the Government (The Department of Arts and the Revenue) as well as film producers and their lawyers and bankers.
Jim was the editor of the PricewaterhouseCoopers report into the economic implications of removing the film tax incentive (jointly commissioned by the Department of Arts and the Irish Film Board) and following his work with the Department of Arts, he was appointed as the external consultant on the Government Board set up to carry out the Irish Film Board's expenditure review.
He is also on the IBEC Audiovisual Tax Review Group which proposes tax amendments require to help the Irish film Industry. |
